I spent two weeks at the beginning of summer in Germany traveling with my family. As usual, that extended family time was rather stressful, and left me rather out of sorts when I came back home.

I had hoped that I’d recover quickly, and be able to spend, as usual, the second half of my summer getting ready for the new school year.

Instead, here it is a week before classes begin, and I only today actually started planning anything at all.

On Tuesday I go in for a leadership meeting. Wednesday and Thursday will be professional development.

For the first time in years, I feel like I’m starting off at the very back of the treadmill.

Sorry to hear the family time left you distracted. Good luck with getting absorbed in meaningful work again.

I hope that you were able to get back to focus for yourself. I’m excited that you’re posting again. Seconding H’s good luck with adjusting back to work.

    Thank y’alls.

I’m still moping through, but at least the blogging is starting to get my brain working on school again. I was wondering if my few readers had wandered off during the summer – it’s nice to see that I still have a couple.

I’m cheating, and stealing dan’s concept lists. They match up well enough with our instructional guide that I can do that and feel like I’ve got a road map.

I didn’t get to rework my classroom expectations to be more pictures and less words, but it’s worked well enough for me in past years that I think I can get away with it for another year. I definitely need to make it a point to recruit some kids after testing this year to help me redo them, though.
