I’m an okay teacher. Some days I hit one out of the park, other days I struggle.

Inspired by dan I’ve decided to record my experiences officially, rather than in comments in other blogs or as part of my non professional life.

It should at least allow me to build on my successes, and learn from my failures.

Wish me luck.

I’ve been inspired by many edu-blog posts over the last few years. Most because of where they ‘push’ my thinking, both in strategic and conceptual terms.

Something about this one, however, hits home on a more ‘human’ level. Really hits home. In just the way it should.

As you said: “I’m an okay teacher. Some days I hit one out of the park, other days I struggle.”

Couldn’t agree with you more about my own reflective processes. That’s how I felt in my first few years. That’s how I continue to feel after more than a decade. And it’s definitely how I feel now that I’ve returned from a short corporate career to re-learn how to teach all over again.

…And I can’t help but wonder how it’d feel if we teachers accepted the same paradigm for our kids, too. Sometimes they’re home run champs. Other times they’re barely able to put on the uniform. But they’re in the game. Just like we are. One swing at a time.

Glad that you’re following Dan’s inspiration. He’s done much for my own thinking as well. From what I can tell in only a few posts you’ve written, you’re undoubtedly on a path to something really vibrant. All the best with the blogging process and discovery.

Thanks for being a reminder that the ‘human’ side of teaching is as vital as anything intellectual/technical we may ever share. Glad I managed to come your way.
